“ This was my favorite Friday night haunt; i sat alone and wrote. My favorite dishes were the hummus plate with hot sauce and the chicken Dijon. Everything was great but those were my faves. Miss it. ”
“ Brunchin in NYC with some college friends who ended up picking this place after a few others had long wait times. The first thing that really stood out to me was the atmosphere. I don't even know how to describe it... The moment I walked in I just felt like a hip New Yorker getting brunch on a Sunday even though I was literally walking in with a backpack and suitcase and literally everything about me was screaming out tourist. There were indoor and outdoor seating, and enough space to accommodate our party of five comfortably. I ordered the steak and eggs, along with a cocktail that is offered at $6 with the order for a brunch deal. The dish came with creamy spinach sauce, which was a unique remix to the classic dish. The main thing that definitely stood out was the steak - super tender and juicy, and complimented the sauce perfectly. Food was on point. My friends also ordered the smoked salmon which looked pretty good too. Dropped around $30. I tend to complain about prices a lot but this place has the atmosphere and quality food to back it up, so to me it was money well spent. ”
“ Love Cafe Orlin! I am pretty sure this is the spot I always eat at when I am in NYC; it's well known by friends living in Manhattan and the boroughs, has a great reputation, a great menu, and is always buzzing! I was most recently there a couple weeks ago for brunch. I was with 3 other friends, and each of us has some kind of dietary restriction or preference. I was the first to arrive and got our names on the list, though the hostess told me to let her know when everyone was there because they weren't going to seat just me while I waited (and they don't take brunch reservations). The place was packed, with people eating outside (under the little covered terrace) and inside, and a big line of folks waiting, like me, in the rain. My other friends arrived maybe 10 min later, I updated the hostess and we were seated almost immediately in what I think is THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE - the multi-person booth just inside the restaurant on the right as you go down the couple steps. We've never been so lucky! This booth was roomy and also kind of secluded/separated/private - not sure how best to describe this spot - it was like we had our own piece of the place; it was more quiet than the rest of the restaurant since it is nestled in between 3 high walls that cut the noise, and there were little cushions on the seats....we could have sat there all day! For brunch, I ordered one of the specials that included smoked salmon, a big, beautiful, lightly dressed salad, poached eggs and a potato pancake. It was savory, the eggs were luscious, and I was completely happy. I ordered it without toast though, since I am gluten free and they still served it with toast...but that was OK because one of my friends ate it instead. (And lucky for me I don't have celiac disease, so the fact that gluten touched the rest of my food was OK...) My one friend ordered the Tunisian eggs which were poached in a tomato-y sauce and served with pita, and then the other 2 ordered the millet pancakes with chicken-pistachio sausage. None of us loved the sausage, but everything else was cleared from our plates. For drinks we had a variety of coffee, tea, specialty coffee and juice on the table. Our server was great - very fast, checked in several times, very nice, friendly person. Obviously multi-tasking all over the place and juggling many tables, but we did not feel neglected in our little comfy nest-like booth, and we were perfectly happy lost in our conversations and leisurely eating our meal. Really, when you are in a very very busy place like this, it is so decadent to not be rushed out to turn the table over!! I always go back, and I think everything on the menu is solid. You really can't go wrong. ”
“ Very impressed with this place. Wanted a nice sit down restaurant for breakfast and this fit the bill. Inside and outside seating with a little bar. It's very nicely doctorated inside. They even play good hip hop for some nice background vibes. The menu has very traditional American breakfast as well as a variety of Mediterranean options. I wanted to try some of the new stuff but the breakfast special was such a good deal and I really wanted OJ and coffee. The I'M class is smaller but it's super fresh. Some of the best OJ I have had in a bit. Food was great quality and tasty. Service was also fast and friendly. I can't wait to try out the other menu items I missed. Overall blown away by the quality with very reasonable prices. Stop by. What are you going to loose beside some time. ”
“ Brunch staple of NYC! I have been coming to Café Orlin for years and it has always been delectable! This classic brunch spot of the east village offers beautiful sidewalk seating and a large interior that just smells of delicious brunch while seeing cocktails flowing. When you arrive here you will be quick to notice the wait which can be anywhere from 15mins to 1.5hrs but it is well worth it but don't think that when you put your name and number down that means you can walk away and get coffee or a drink somewhere they will seat whatever group is there at the immediate time and the service is slow and not attentive but its still worth it. Once you get seated and see the brunch menu you will be impressed. They always have brunch specials and are absolutely delicious with strong bloody marys. The bloody marys are fresh and the coffee is strong perfect to get you ready for your Saturday. For food last time I was here for brunch I got the potato pancake with lox and poached eggs on top and when you broke those eggs on top of the potato pancake and the yoke spilled out it was blissful and delicious. In short: - Delicious Food - NYC brunch Hot spot - Strong cocktails and coffee - There can be long waits for brunch ”
“ Came on a Friday for brunch and it was pretty packed but there was no wait time. The servers wasted no time and immediately brought over water and some menus for us. The prices are fair for east village. We each got the avocado toast with eggs and a side of potatoes ($13). I also ordered a macchiato ($4). The food came fairly quickly. The avocado toast was pretty good - they were topped with chopped onions, tomatoes, and cilantro which added an extra kick to it. They have outdoor seating outside so I would definitely come back when its warmer to enjoy a nice brunch outdoors. This is a pretty solid brunch place in the area but if you would like to skip the wait, its better to go during a weekday. The food is good, servers are attentive, and price is fair. Def worth a try! ”
“ Got the french toast with a side of mixed fruit and I fell in LOVE with the french toast!! + french toast was quite possibly the best french toast ever had - perfect amount of 'egginess' and sweetness.. highly recommend! + very spacious (3 separate rooms wow) and a nicely decorated interior (casual homey vibes...slightly hipster) + great service + very reasonable prices Really nice brunch spot tucked in the East Village :) ”
“ Food: Pumpkin Pancakes-Yummmmmm! One of the best attempts at pumpkin pancakes thus far. It's especially good with the cinnamon yogurt which I used as a substitute for the syrup! Service: friendly waitstaff and good service. Ambiance: feels like a very rustic tavern feel. Very casual. Overall: good experience here everytime I've come. ”
“ After my first time loving the home fries & breakfast sandwich, I had to bring my out of town guests for brunch! The home fries were just as tasty but not at all crispy this time (I guess it's hit or miss) Service was slow ordering and paying, I guess they are busy but this was a bit excessive ---poached eggs over potato pancakes with smoked salmon: the pancakes were perfectly crispy unlike the homes fries in my friends dish. Yummy with egg yolks running over them! The salad was not fresh, the leaves were browning a bit (why would they even plate that?) the dish comes with a lot of smoked salmon and yummy dill sauce plus multigrain toast NOTE: Don't be intimidated by the large crowd outside, we only waited about 30min for 3 people at noon on Sunday (the restaurant Is large with a lot of tables) ”
